6 ways to cope this Valentines Day after your break-up...

I always find Valentine’s Day so commercial, really any day should be Valentine’s Day, right?

But how do you cope, when you see it everywhere after your break-up.  You can't get away from it, it's in the shops, on TV,  on the radio.  When you are no longer in a relationship, it can make you feel pretty lonely.  So embrace it and be your own valentine.

                                                                       I am my own valentine!

Here are 6 ways to cope through the day:

  1. Turn off the TV and don’t visit the shops, no seriously. Give this time for you. What do you love to do and haven’t done for a while?  Do it. For me I love to be pampered;

  2. So tip 2 is pamper yourself, either with self-care spa treats at home (i.e soothing bubble bath and a good book) or make an appointment for yourself at your local day spa and enjoy a little pampering from someone else;

  3. Journaling is a wonderful way to write what you are feeling. On this day, write all the people and things in your life you are grateful for. Look at your life through love.  How are you loving and nourishing yourself? Who do you have love for in your life right now? This is an empowering tool. One that you can do anytime;

  4. Be happy for the ones who are receiving gifts today. If you are out and working and seeing your friends and colleagues receiving flowers and chocolates. Embrace it, choose happiness for them not negative feelings. By choosing to be negative and feeling sorry for yourself won’t help you. Don’t compare yourself;

  5. Treat yourself to a lovely meal. Put on your favourite music, cook a meal you love to eat and enjoy your own company. You have to remember once you are happy within yourself there is always love around; and

  6. Share the love with your family and friends.  Who said you have to be in a relationship to have love? If you are a single parent and have your children home, do something special together, visit a play, go out to dinner or catch a movie. Single and have single girlfriends? Invite a bunch of girlfriends over, and organise a dinner party and spend a fun filled night together.

    So remember to treat this day like any other day full of love. Fill the day with love whether that is for yourself or with family and friends you care about.

    I’m not anti-valentine’s day, but seriously brush it off, it’s an over the top commercial day, the shops do the roaring trade and benefit, not the relationships.

Be your own valentine.  Learn to love yourself from within
